More pics from today

A flock of Canda geese flying down the Ohio.
The Ohio River always makes me feel small. The West can keep the Colorado and the south cacan have the Mississippi. I love the Ohio for its part in my history. Dad spent most of his summers jetskiing and boating on this river, and I learned to ski on it.
More fungus…A shelf.
If you look close at the underside on the right, you can see someone’s fingerprints (not mine) like someone just had to grab it and see what it felt like.
Here’s my sapsucker picture. Cute little guy. I knew I had something different from a downy because of the red chin and “dirty” appearance of the back. Posted by Picasa

I love sapsuckers and wish I saw them more often. They make the neatest sounds, especially if there’s a predator around.

Living so far from he coast or waterways for the first time in my life, I miss a river and the ocean. We have nice lakes, though. Nice photos, Susan. Glad you can enjoy a good river and the bewds that make it their home 🙂

Cool sapsucker! The sky looks so blue in your pictures. Another beautiful day in Ohio!

Lucky you to see a sapsucker- he’s pretty round and cute. Re previous post, I would ask, “Why do mushrooms always remind me of fungus?” I like mushrooms- just not to eat. Too bad, because most people enjoy them routinely.

Hey, nice shot of the sapSIPPER, tending his sap wells. (Why does the name sapSUCKER always make non-birders laugh?) I have had 6 of the 7 species of Ohio woodpeckers at Crooked Run, missing only the elusive Red-headed.

Glad you are enjoying “my” nature preserve. C’mon down any ole time!

Being a west coast person, I’m always amazed at the size of rivers east of the Rockies. Our rivers are small in comparison. Something the size of the Mississippi stuns me! 🙂

    Just FYI.
